Traffic Safety Workshop with In-Vehicle Evaluations & Collision Avoidance

The following is a combination of a 2½ hour, interactive classroom session, reinforced with a 3 hour        in-vehicle evaluation with coaching and collision avoidance session.

 

Classroom Training

 

Location:       CAE Safety Consultants is able to complete the classroom portion of the training on-location at your office.  This provides for better utilization of your employee’s time as they are not required to travel to an outside location for the classroom training.

 

Content:         Below is an outline of the topics to be discussed during the classroom training:

 

  • A 50 question multiple-choice quiz will be provided to the participants prior to the classroom session, as a general knowledge test, with the answers being discussed and explained with each participant at the beginning of the session.  We are able to customize the quiz to include company specific questions.
    • Review of higher risk driving concerns such as:
      • Backing
      • Railroad Crossings
      • Rural & Uncontrolled Intersections
      • Collisions with Wildlife
      • Fatigue
      • Distracted Driving
  • Changes to rules and regulations under the Traffic Safety Act.
  • Review and discuss a 20 page Traffic Safety Workshop booklet and PowerPoint.
  • Review of company vehicle policies (optional).

 

Length:        The approximate length of the classroom will be 2 hours and 30 minutes.

 

Materials:    Participants receive a Traffic Safety Workshop booklet, as well as hand-outs containing information on specific topics during the classroom session.  Visual aids, including a PowerPoint presentation with audio and video, are used during the classroom session.

 

In-Vehicle Evaluation

 

Location:   Course participants will be picked up and dropped off at Seitel’s office.

                  

Student/Instructor Ratio:     1 student to 1 instructor

 

Content:    The information presented during the in-vehicle session will provide each participant with a common understanding of safe driving habits and techniques.  Below is an outline of the topics to be discussed during the in-vehicle training:

 

  • Pre-trip vehicle inspection.
  • Driving evaluation, with coaching, in the work environment driving area.
  • Interactive discussion throughout the session on various driving tasks and situations.
  • Braking techniques, speed control, gravel road driving skills, parking, backing and visual scanning patterns are the key components of the drive.
  • Collision avoidance training.

 

Length:        The approximate length of the in-vehicle portion will be 3 hours (Calgary).

 

Notes:          After successfully completing both the classroom and in-vehicle portions of the driver training, participants will be given a Certificate of Completion, with an expiry date of three years, as well as a copy of their in-vehicle evaluation.
